No. All Boating Puerto Rico charters are captained — a USCG-licensed captain operates the vessel. You are a guest and do not need any license or boating experience. Puerto Rico law requires a licensed operator on any motorized vessel; we handle this for you.
What does a USCG license mean?
A US Coast Guard (USCG) Merchant Mariner Credential is the federal license required to commercially operate a vessel in US waters. Our captains hold current USCG licenses, pass annual Coast Guard inspections, and complete mandatory safety training.
How experienced are your captains?
Our captains average 10+ years operating in Puerto Rico's waters. They know the tides, reefs, currents, and weather patterns around Icacos, Palomino, Culebra, Vieques, and the USVI. Many have been with us for 5+ years.
Is it safe to charter a boat in Puerto Rico?

Can children go on a captained charter?

What happens if weather is bad on my charter day?
Safety is our top priority. If weather conditions are unsafe, we will contact you at least 2 hours before departure and offer a full reschedule or refund. Puerto Rico has excellent weather most of the year.
